Two Innovation Programs
At Rely, we are running two innovation programs in parallel to improve technologies and accelerate the time-to-market for large-scale Green Hydrogen and Power-to-X production plants. Through these initiatives, we focus on the entire value chain of green H2 and Power-to-X, from production to end-use applications. 100% of our R&D activities are dedicated to sustainable development.
Green Hydrogen Production
This innovation program is led hand in hand with our technology partner John Cockerill Hydrogen through our Joint Innovation Platform.
Breaking the traditional silos between the electrolyzer core technology owner and the overall plant integrator, we develop together differentiating proprietary technology, equipment, and solutions that improve hydrogen generation across stacks, Balance of Plant, and Balance of Site, hence unlocking the green hydrogen market.
Power-to-X
Applications
This innovation program is exclusively led by Rely innovation teams through the Rely Technology Center.
They explore and develop Power-to-X applications, specifically focusing on using green hydrogen as a feedstock in producing green ammonia and e-fuels such as e-methanol, e-SAF, and e-methane. Additionally, they investigate the use of green hydrogen as a reducing agent, in particular in the steel industry.

Green Hydrogen to Decarbonize Steelmaking, by Jean Jouet.
Green Hydrogen can significantly reduce CO2 emissions from the steel industry. Using green hydrogen in the DRI steel production route allows for a reduction of 50% of CO2 emissions compared with the blast furnace route. Further reduction could even be obtained by enriching the syngas used in the DRI furnaces with more green hydrogen.
Through the Rely Technology Center, our innovators are accompanying steelmakers on their journey towards a more sustainable steelmaking process.
